Since server rooms run all day for seven days a week, their temperature will naturally increase. High temperatures can break your equipment or result in a fire if left unchecked. Cooling systems, such as a computer room air handler (CRAH), help maintain the temperature at optimal levels. Aside from the risk of a fire breaking out, there are other reasons why a company needs to monitor the temperature of their server rooms. Continue reading the article to know more.

    #1. Minimises Downtime

Downtime is one of the things companies want to minimise as it has significant effects on both them and their clients. Utilising sensors, such as a computer room air conditioning unit or CRAC, can help prevent this issue. Sudden or dangerous increases in temperature alert the necessary personnel, giving them time to address the issue before it worsens.

    #2. Ensures Proper Airflow

Another reason why companies use cooling sensors is to ensure proper airflow in their server rooms. A close control unit can detect if warm air is leaving the area while cold air remains. Furthermore, it sends out an alert if proper airflow stops due to whatever reason.

#3. Extend the Lifespan of Equipment

Since server rooms run 24/7 for seven days a week, CRAC and other cooling and monitoring systems ensure that operating equipment is at optimal temperatures. In some cases, the protection these sensors give can prolong the lifespan of the equipment.

#4. Reduces Power Consumption & Increases Energy Efficiency

The cost of keeping server rooms running can be expensive. However, cooling and monitoring systems, such as CRAH can help optimise room temperature to a level where energy efficiency is high. Furthermore, it provides information on whether the AC units can keep up with the number of operating equipment.
